The Cohort

Spring 2025 Cohort

These are the amazing young authors who have the distinction of being "The Original Early Scribes". If the last one looks a little on the younger side, it’s because he is. Our Founder's grandson wouldn’t let the program go on without him writing a book too, so we made him our “honorary” Early Scribe.

They will launch their books in April 2025.

Special thanks to Raysa Suarez Williams (@raysasuarezwilliams) for the cohort photos.

Anna Williams Age 13

Anna’s got a passion for creative writing, poetry, haikus, and scripts. She’s also dabbled in stop-motion animation and digital art, so if you need a character to come to life, she’s your person. One project she’s especially proud of? She created a story about a new character added to The Outsiders —because apparently, even classics need a little Anna-flair. Who knew the Greasers needed one more person to cause drama?

Brianna Davis Age 14

Anyone who knows Brianna knows she's absolutely passionate about writing. In person, she might be a bit shy—she's the quiet but observant one in a room full of loud people—but hand her a pen, and she's unstoppable. You'll often find her lost in her own world, pouring her heart into what will undoubtedly be her first novel. Best-seller status? Oh, it's just a matter of time!

Houston Galloway Age 11

Houston is basically a reading machine with a side hustle in writing thrilling, creative stories. Over the summer, he turned it into a family project—because, why not? He had everyone pick a book of their choice, and Houston’s challenge was to create a part 2 for each one. My guess? The sequels were probably better than the originals.

Jarely Bonilla Age 12

Jarely is a 'Lead Girl' as an active member of the Winston-Salem girls' Organization. When it comes to creative writing, she’s like a ninja—quiet, swift, and her originality sneaks up on you, leaving you in awe. Her favorite subject? English Language Arts, of course—because who wouldn’t want to master the art of sneaky plot twists in storytelling?"

MacKenzie Knight Age 10

Two things you need to know about MacKenzie: she’s all about basketball and her dogs—if there’s a ball or a tail involved, she’s there! She also enjoys drawing and creative writing. In class, don't worry—no chance of boredom with MacKenzie around. You can always count on her to crack a joke and have everyone doubled over!

Konnor Hairston Age 6

Konnor excels in reading and loves to draw pictures of his favorite animated characters. He enjoys playing basketball and loves borrowing your phone to create videos for his imaginary YouTube channel. And when it comes to favorite people, his PawPaw takes the gold medal every time!
