Calling all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who love to write, create, and dream big!


Whether your student loves reading, writing short stories, poetry, song or rap lyrics, or is simply a storyteller at heart, this spring camp is the adventure your middle schooler has been waiting for.


Early Scribes camp is an unforgettable creative experience where imagination takes center stage. Over seven weeks, campers will:


  • Write, edit, and publish their very own book
  • Meet real-life creative entrepreneurs and industry professionals who share how they built their dream careers
  • Participate in fun, hands-on activities that spark creativity, confidence, and freedom of thought
  •  Learn how to market and sell their book like a true authorpreneur


This is more than a camp. It’s a launchpad for young creatives and future industry leaders.

Due to limited space, a selection process is required, and all applications will be carefully reviewed. Once the cohort has been selected, all applicants will be notified of their status.


The participation fee for the Early Scribes Literacy Spring Camp is $275 and is due only if your child is accepted and you choose to secure their spot. This fee is a modest contribution toward covering all aspects of the program, including curriculum instruction, a printed or digital workbook, professional book illustrations, graphic design for interior pages and covers, all necessary supplies, and healthy snacks during classes. In alignment with NC EmpowerUp’s commitment to accessibility, scholarships are available to ensure cost is not a barrier to participation. Click here to apply for a camp scholarship.


We believe this innovative program will provide meaningful benefits for young creatives, helping them build foundational skills that will support their future academic and career pathways.
